My name is Natalia and I have three wonderful children including a son who recently underwent an extremely complicated intestinal surgery that included a long rehabilitation process. He was scheduled to go to a clinic for further testing in March but all of these plans changed because of the war. With each passing day, remaining in Ukraine was becoming more and more dangerous so my sister, Ulana, who also has two young children, and I decided to go to Poland. I had so many questions before we left our home: how will we get to Poland? What should we take? How far should we go? How long will we stay there? How will my son endure such a challenging journey? But the war has united us all, friends and strangers alike. We have received help from many good people. We have been lucky to be cared for by kind and selfless people (Ms. Dorota, Ms. Maja, Ms. Ewa). We are safe now and we are grateful to all of the people who have helped and continue to help us and find our way in this new land.
